DAEGU, South Korea, Aug. 30 (Xinhuanet) --
China pulled off the last four diving golds on offer on Saturday at the 22nd
World University Games to bag all 12 titles home, repeating their fete in the
last Universiade.
Sun Na and Zhang Jun triumphed in the women's 10-meter platformsynchronized
while Tian Liang and Yang Jinghui won in the men's.
China also clinched both the group titles to finish the gold sweep.
Former Olympic winner Sun and Zhang were followed close at heelby Chon Hyon
Ju and Kim Gyung Ju, from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea during the
match before they prevailed on 295.53points.
Olympic champion Tian and national champion Yang, in their first-time
partnership, secured the title on 358.68.
"I am satisfied with my athletes in this Universiade," said Chinese diving
team leader Zhou Jihong. "They put on a good performance throughout the
competition and took all the golds."
World champion Wu Minxia wrapped up three titles in women's 1-meter and
3-meter springboard as well as the synchronized 3-meter with Guo Jingjing, who
partnered Wu to the synchronized 3-meter atthe Barcelona World Championships
last month.
Wang Feng rounded up with the men's 1m title while world bronzemedalist Wang
Tianling took the 3m springboard gold after Peng Bo and Wang Kenan triumphed in
the men's 3m synchronized.
Sun finished first in the platform event while Tian grabbed themen's title.
China wrapped up all the 12 gold medals in the Beijing Universiade two years
ago.
"The continual competitions put my athletes' stamina and mentality to
tests," said Zhou, adding that divers soon will be inthe national trial for the
Athens Olympic Games early in September.
"They earned experience here and came to know what they should do to improve
on,"said Zhou.
"They will have to work harder to compete well in the next Olympics," she
added.
